AMELIA ISLAND — If recruits don’t want to be at Miami, Mark Richt doesn’t want to keep them. So he probably wishes Ahman Ross well.
Ross, a safety who will be a senior this fall at Jacksonville-Bolles, announced on Twitter he is looking at other schools.
(Apologies to Ross, but we’re going to discuss this for a minute more. Bear with us.)
A three-star recruit, Ross is rated No. 42 among safeties in the 2017 class by the 247Sports compisite ratings. The website ranks Miami’s class of 14 recruits No. 4 nationally and first in the ACC.
UM has a commitment from three-star Billy Gibson, of Miami Southridge, and is after four-star Daniel Wright (Fort Lauderdale-Cardinal Gibbons) and Palm Beach Gardens’ Amari Carter, among numerous other safeties.
Ross plays his high school ball about an hour south of Amelia Island, where Richt and other ACC coaches are meeting this week for the league’s annual spring conference.
