Recruiting: Jeremy Shockey, Brett Romberg, Phillip Buchanon, Antrel Rolle to coach at Miami Hurricanes’ ‘Paradise’ camp

Turns out Ray Lewis and Michael Irvin weren’t the only former Hurricanes standouts set to interact with recruits on Miami’s campus this weekend.

Tweets from coach Mark Richt said that three members of the 2001 national title team — tight end Jeremy Shockey, center Brett Romberg and defensive backs Phillip Buchanon and Antrel Rolle — will be in the mix as well.

(UPDATE: Those players, plus Warren Sapp, Najeh Davenport, Gino Torretta, Duke Johnson, Calais Campbell and others showed up).

Shockey, 35, was a four-time Pro-Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champ. He finished a 10-year NFL career in 2011. As a Hurricane, he caught 61 passes for 815 yards and 10 touchdowns, including the winner in a 2000 upset of top-ranked Florida State.

Romberg, 36, played nine years in the NFL and is a radio host on 790 The Ticket.

Buchanon, 35, had a 10-year NFL career. He finished with 20 interceptions (five returned for scores) and took three punt returns back to the house.

Rolle, 33, was a three-time Pro-Bowler and won a Super Bowl in 2012. He was released by the Chicago Bears in May.

UM will soon announce more “guest coaches” for the camp, which is expected to draw more than 75 top prospects to UM for one-on-one coaching and opportunities to bond with UM’s coaching staff.
