Miami picked up a commitment from Akeem Dent, a 2019 defensive back who played for Royal Palm Beach and transferred to Pahokee this spring.
He primarily plays corner and also fills in at safety. He was offered before UM’s camp, and said he committed Saturday because of the atmosphere. He also has an FAU offer.
Dent, listed at 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, is UM’s second commit for 2019. Linebacker Jesiah Pierre pledged last week.
“Being here and being a part of this makes me feel like I belong here,” Dent said, adding that he likes the “legends and the legacy” at UM.
Ray Lewis’ passionate speech, delivered hit him especially hard.
“I just wanted to be a part of it,” he said.
