Watch: Miami Hurricanes running backs run the gauntlet

In this clip from Saturday’s practice — the third of the fall, the first in pads — Miami running backs coach Thomas Brown oversees his players run a drill.

The first three backs you see here are Mark Walton, Joe Yearby and Gus Edwards. Freshman Travis Homer is No. 24, junior Trayone Gray is No. 32, and big fullback Marquez Williams is No. 36.

Some of the other people you see standing around watching are boosters. Miami invited its Golden Canes Club to watch practice on Saturday. It was raining heavily as many of them arrived for today’s practice.

In any weather, Miami’s plans for an indoor practice facility were sure to be a conversation topic.

One high-ranking booster who has seen the plans said it will cost nearly $30 million and include expanded meeting space, weight room and video training facilities.

Plans are expected to be revealed to the public before the season starts. A timetable for construction is unknown, but the project would likely be completed within two years.

The 50-yard turf area seen in the above video will be covered by the facility, as will the adjacent 80-yard turf field. The beige building in the background is Miami’s weight room. The white part of the building is Miami’s training and locker room (the rear of the Schwartz Center, home of Miami’s football operation).

Miami's top three: Yearby, Edwards, Walton.
