The Hurricanes released their depth chart for Saturday’s game against Florida Atlantic (6 p.m., and it includes a player who will make his much-anticipated debut.

Redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Gerald Willis, who was suspended for UM’s season-opening win over Florida A&M, is in the two-deep. He’s backing up sophomore Kendrick Norton. Willis’ return is especially important given the questionable status of junior Anthony Moten (dislocated shoulder), who did not play against FAMU.

Willis, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound New Orleans native, was a blue-chip recruit who transferred from Florida after his freshman year in 2014. While sitting out last season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, he drew constant praise from UM’s former staff, and was a productive player in the spring.

Also of note: junior Trent Harris, who has a broken hand and saw limited action last week, is listed as a starter at “Viper” defensive end. Harris, who broke his hand last week in practice, was listed as the starter on last week’s depth chart but redshirt sophomore Demetrius Jackson wound up starting and playing most of the game opposite Chad Thomas.

Junior Darrion Owens is on the depth chart as well — with Jamie Gordinier out for the season, he’s the backup to weakside linebacker Michael Pinckney — but it’s unclear if Owens can play. Owens, who was listed as a backup last week, is recovering from a serious knee injury.

Freshman wide receiver Sam Bruce — who would not be on the depth chart anyway — was suspended for the first three games of the season, UM announced Saturday. Bruce will miss this week and next Saturday’s game at Appalachian State.
