One of the Hurricanes’ true freshmen was disciplined Wednesday.
Miami suspended reserve safety Cedrick Wright, who has played mostly on special teams this season, for a violation of team rules. He will not play in Saturday’s game at North Carolina State (12:30 p.m., ACC regional networks).
In a statement, UM said it has “no further comment on Wright’s suspension.”
Wright, a three-star recruit from Miami-Gulliver Prep, has played in nine games and made six tackles.
It’s unclear if Wright’s suspension is related to an incident last month. Wright and freshman tight end Jovani Haskins were with former Hurricanes wide receiver Sam Bruce when Bruce was arrested on charges of marijuana possession. Neither Wright nor Haskins were charged. Both have attended games since the Oct. 18 incident. Wright has played (he made a tackle at Virginia last week). Haskins, who is redshirting, has not.
