Gerald Willis‘ season is over.
The redshirt sophomore defensive lineman had surgery to repair the MCL in his left knee and will not play in the Dec. 28 Russell Athletic Bowl, a source told The Post on Thursday.
Willis, who transferred from Florida, sat out 2015 and played his first season as a Hurricane, dealt with knee issues in the second half and wound up playing in nine games. He registered 13 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
He was also suspended for the season-opener for a violation of team rules.
Willis was a backup behind starting defensive tackles Kendrick Norton and R.J. McIntosh. When healthy, he appeared to be the No. 3, ahead of fellow backups Anthony Moten and Courtel Jenkins.
