A local linebacker with speed is on the way to UM.

De’Andre Wilder signed Wednesday morning.

More about him:

De’Andre Wilder

Wilder

Wilder

Status: signed

Size: 6-2, 195

School: Miami-Carol City

Stats: 64 tackles, 14 sacks, four forced fumbles as a junior (247)

Stars: Four (ESPN, Rivals), three (247)

Rank: No. 22 outside linebacker (ESPN), No. 26 (Rivals), No. 52, 732nd overall (247)

Projection: Sam linebacker of the future. Wilder is fast, aggressive and hits hard – not unlike Zach McCloud, who currently mans the strong side in Manny Diaz’ defense. Miami needs to put weight on him and teach him technique, but he has excellent burst and closing speed and is unafraid of contact. He should be a significant contributor in the years to come.

Fun facts: Had 28 offers, including Alabama, Utah and Oregon, but opted to jump on board with his hometown school … State champion his senior year … Plans to wear No. 11 at UM … Earned the nickname “Eye Candy” in youth ball … Given name sounds like that of professional boxing champion Deontay Wilder. No relation.
