Nice little Saturday for Miami fans, with a basketball win over 10th-ranked Duke and a football commitment of high importance.
One of the top quarterbacks in the 2018 class, Artur Sitkowski, gave his pledge to Mark Richt‘s program while on an unofficial visit.
Richt posted a tweet afterward that included a “WOW!!”
Sitkowski, listed at 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, is considered by 247Sports to be the fourth-best pro-style quarterback in the country. Rivals rates him fifth at his position.
ESPN, which rates him seventh, wrote that he “moves well for his size to extend plays” and “can make all the throws with ease,” though he “only knows one speed right now” and will need to develop his touch.
MORE MIAMI COVERAGE
He is from Old Bridge, N.J. and transferred to Bradenton-IMG Academy in 2016. Last year he threw for 1,436 yards and 16 touchdowns with four interceptions. UM is also recruiting several of his IMG teammates, including four-star receiver Brian Hightower, who visited Saturday with Sitkowski, and Josh Moore. Another teammate, Taron Vincent, is the nation’s top-rated defensive tackle and one of Miami’s most-wanted recruits.
Sitkowski, rated 75th overall by 247, is the third top-100 player in UM’s 12-man class. The others are running back Lorenzo Lingard (15th) and cornerback Josh Jobe (52nd). After adding Sitkowski, Miami rose to No. 2 in the nation in 247Sports’ class rankings.
He considered Florida, LSU, Wisconsin, UCLA, Florida State and Rutgers, among others.
