We don’t know whether Malik Rosier is a strong enough competitor to win the Hurricanes’ starting quarterback spot.

We do know he’s a strong quarterback.

Entering his redshirt junior season at UM, Rosier has impressed coaches in the weight room — and set a program record for quarterbacks in the power clean.

Rosier lifted 315 pounds recently, as captured on video and posted by UM staffer Jorge Baez, who noted Rosier broke Stephen Morris record of 308 set in 2013.

Watch:

Rosier (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) played in 13 games (one start) as Brad Kaaya‘s backup the last two seasons. He threw for 370 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Last year, he was more productive on the ground (130 yards, one touchdown) than he was through the air (2-for-4, 32 yards).

Miami begins spring practice March 21.
