Miami, which is on its longest winning streak in 15 years, remains a top-10 team.

The Hurricanes (6-0, 4-0 ACC), who have won their last 11 games, held at No. 8 in the Associated Press top 25, which was released Sunday.

UM was ranked No. 8 before beating Syracuse 27-19 at Hard Rock Stadium.

Miami dropped one spot to No. 8 in the coaches’ poll. Clemson (6-1), which was idle, took UM’s former spot at No. 7 — despite the fact UM last week beat Syracuse, which was coming off a win over Clemson.

The first College Football Playoff rankings come out Oct. 31, or, the Tuesday after this Saturday’s games.

Clemson held at No. 7 in the AP poll. Miami’s opponent in two weeks, Notre Dame, moved up four spots to No. 9 after hammering No. 11 USC 49-14. Virginia Tech, which visits UM on Nov. 4 for a critical ACC Coastal clash, climbed one spot to No. 13 after crushing North Carolina 59-7.

Miami visits struggling UNC (1-7, 0-5) at noon Saturday (ESPN2).
