Miami continues to be encouraged by the progress of standout freshman Lonnie Walker.

Walker, the All-American recruit from Reading, Pa., scored 17 points in about 20 minutes in a scrimmage against USF on Saturday. The Hurricanes, picked to finish fourth in the ACC, beat the Bulls 101-50.

A source with knowledge of the scrimmage confirmed the above to The Post. It was originally reported by Barstool Sports.

Division I commonly scrimmage each other before the season, but the results are not made public by the schools (more on the issue here). Miami has scrimmaged USF and UCF in recent seasons.

Walker, who tore a meniscus in his right knee and had surgery in July, was the runner-up in the preseason ACC rookie of the year voting, conducted last week in Charlotte at the league’s media days.

Miami has an exhibition Wednesday against Div. 2 Newberry College (7 p.m.) and opens the year next Friday against Gardner-Webb (8 p.m.).
