First, a bit of recruiting news: Miami’s 2018 quarterback commitment, Artur Sitkowski, announced he’s flipping from UM to his “hometown school,” Rutgers:
Sitkowski, a four-star recruit, has shared time at quarterback for Bradenton-IMG Academy this season. He is originally from New Jersey.
We had originally planned to share this update on N’Kosi Perry, UM’s 2017 four-star quarterback recruit. Mark Richt spoke about his development Tuesday, and sounded encouraged by his progress:
“He’s doing well. Just little things like ball placement. He threw some really pretty balls today. When you really know where you’re going with the ball — he’s really accurate. He’s got a live arm.
“Even deep ball shots, do you go over the top, do you go back-shoulder, do you throw the ball inside of a receiver because he beat the defender to the inside — he really has a good idea of what to do. He’s getting there. It’s just a matter of putting it all together at a rapid pace. It’s not that easy.”
Perry could challenge Malik Rosier for the starting job next spring. Rosier will be a redshirt senior, while Perry will be a redshirt freshman. Redshirt junior Evan Shirreffs and redshirt freshman Cade Weldon should also be in the mix.
Rosier beat out those three for the starting job in August.
