Dionte Mullins, the sophomore wide receiver who was suspended this week by UM, is leaving the program.

In a press release sent Thursday evening, UM said Mullins was leaving to “pursue more playing time opportunities at another program.”

Mullins, from Miami-Gulliver Prep, has made four catches for 53 yards this season. He ranks 10th on the team in receptions and 11th in yards.

Sunday morning, Mullins took to Twitter to apparently vent frustration over his role on the team.

“It’s crazy how this man can’t give me no legit reason why he not playing me,” Mullins tweeted, apparently in reference to receivers coach Ron Dugans. Coach Mark Richt has said in the past his assistants control the rotation at their positions.

A follow-up Mullins tweet — “When you tell a coach about himself, he tells you to leave” — was followed by a “facepalm” emoji.

Mullins quickly deleted both tweets.

It’s unclear if that was the only violation of UM’s team rules (which obviously include, written or not, the stipulation that players shouldn’t criticize their coaches on social media).

Mullins, who did not play as a high school senior because of academic issues, was a late qualifier to UM in Aug. 2016 and struggled to get up to speed.

He is the second receiver from the 2016 signing class to leave the team. Fellow four-star wideout Sam Bruce was booted last year after multiple violations of the team’s conduct code.

Other 2016 signees no longer with UM include safety Cedrick Wright (a Gulliver teammate of Mullins and defensive end Joe Jackson; he was dismissed in February); tight end Jovani Haskins (“parted ways” in June; now at West Virginia); quarterback Jack Allison (left after spring ball, also landed at WVU) and safety Jeff James (left after spring, now in JUCO).
