Pitt game time announced: Miami’s regular season finale at Pittsburgh on Friday, Nov. 24 will be a noon kickoff, televised on ABC.
It will be the fourth Hurricanes game in a row televised on ABC, following UM’s games against Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, and Saturday against Virginia (noon).
Miami (9-0, 6-0 ACC) is ranked second in the Associated Press poll entering this week’s game, after stomping third-ranked Notre Dame last week. The Canes are due for a rise from No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings when the new batch is released Tuesday.
Pitt (4-6, 2-4) lost 34-31 at home to North Carolina, which earned its first ACC win of the year (2-8, 1-6). The Panthers visit Virginia Tech this week.
Three Canes honored:
Junior safety Jaquan Johnson (defensive back of the week), true freshman right guard Navaughn Donaldson (offensive lineman) and sophomore linebacker Zach McCloud (co-linebacker) earned ACC player of the week honors after Miami’s 41-8 win over Notre Dame.
Johnson, who had an interception and a team-high eight tackles (one for loss), was named the ACC’s DB of the week for the second week in a row.
Donaldson, fully recovered from a midseason sprained ankle, helped UM open huge holes for rushers Travis Homer, DeeJay Dallas and Malik Rosier (237 combined yards). Rosier was not sacked.
McCloud had five tackles, a sack, a quarterback hurry and 1.5 tackles for loss, and helped hold Notre Dame, the most efficient rushing attack in the country, to 109 yards on the ground. The Irish were averaging a nation-best 7.04 yards per carry. Against UM, they managed 3.03. The longest carry for Heisman Trophy contender Josh Adams was 12 yards.
Other Hurricanes to win ACC weekly awards this season: Braxton Berrios (receiver, post-FSU), Darrell Langham (co-receiver, post-Georgia Tech), Michael Badgley (specialist, post-Georgia Tech), Chris Herndon (receiver, post-Syracuse), Michael Pinckney (linebacker, post-Syracuse) and R.J. McIntosh (defensive lineman, post-North Carolina).
