Two notes on UM seniors:

* Left tackle Kc McDermott, of Palm Beach Central High, accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game.

The game is 3 p.m. Jan. 20 in St. Petersburg. NFL Network will carry coverage.

UM tight end Chris Herndon accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl, but will not play because of knee surgery. Still waiting to hear on others who have accepted invitations to other postseason all-star games (like the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, which has yet to announce participants).

Seven Hurricanes seniors, including Herndon, were on the preseason watch list for the Senior Bowl.

* Wide receiver Braxton Berrios won the Pop Warner Little Scholars College Football Award, given to a “senior who has made a difference on the field, in the classroom and in his community.”

Berrios (3.96 GPA and a double major in finance and entrepreneurship) was named the ACC’s top scholar-athlete and was a finalist for the Maxwell Award, considered the “Academic Heisman.”
