A big honor came Monday for Miami’s biggest player.

Right guard Navaughn Donaldson, a 6-foot-6, 350-pound true freshman, earned a spot on ESPN’s freshman All-American team.

Donaldson, from Miami Central High, grabbed a first-team spot the first day of spring drills and held onto the job in the fall. He started 10 games (he missed three with an ankle injury) and used his frame — one teammate referred to him as a “moving house” — to block skillfully.

According to ESPN, UM rushed for 4.3 yards per carry before contact while rushing behind him.

Johnson honored: Miami safety Jaquan Johnson was named a Sports Illustrated second-team All-American.
