On early signing day, Miami signed a safety who is one of the top players in Palm Beach County.

More about him:

Hall

GURVAN HALL

Status: signed; plans to enroll in January

Size: 6-1, 185

School: Palm Beach Gardens High

Stats: As a junior: 87 tackles (13 for loss) and five interceptions; 457 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 23 catches.

Stars: Four (ESPN, Rivals, 247)

Rank: No. 11 safety, No. 136 overall (ESPN); No. 12 safety, No. 145 overall (247); No. 15 safety, No. 191 overall (Rivals)

Projection: Should compete to start at safety in 2019, after Jaquan Johnson and Sheldrick Redwine graduate. Hall, according to 247, “projects best as an instinctive safety that can really burst out of his breaks and come downhill in a hurry. He plays with toughness and physicality on defense, but needs to work on his tackling technique.”

Fun facts: When Hall was at Palm Beach Lakes last spring, Alabama coach Nick Saban flew in by helicopter to recruit him … Hall took one official visit: Miami … Also held offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Notre Dame, Ohio State and others … Under Armour All-American … Finalist for the Lou Groza Palm Beach County Player of the Year Award … Nominated for Class 8A state Mr. Football player of the year … Told Rivals he’s “good friends” with current Canes safety Amari Carter (Palm Beach Gardens High) and cornerback Trajan Bandy … Coach at Palm Beach Lakes was former UM running back Al Shipman … Wore No. 6 on official visit, but told CanesInsight he wants to wear No. 26 — the number of late UM legend Sean Taylor.
