While the Hurricanes will enter camp still trying to find the right combination on the offensive line, senior Tyler Gauthier is one of the mainstays of the group.

Gauthier, who started all 13 games for the Hurricanes at center last season, was named a nominee for the Rimington Trophy on Friday. The award is given to the best center in college football.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Gauthier earned All-ACC Honorable Mention recognition last season.

The only Hurricanes player to ever win the Rimington Trophy was Brett Romberg in 2002.

Other Hurricanes players who have earned spots on award watch lists this week are wide receiver Ahmmon Richards (Biletnikoff Award and Maxwell Award), running back Travis Homer (Doak Walker Award and Maxwell Award), safety Jaquan Johnson (Bednarik Award) and linebacker Shaquille Quarterman (Bednarik Award).
