Recruiting: Miami Hurricanes commits make highlight-reel plays at The Opening

His father brought tons of energy to the team. Al Blades Jr. seems to have the same sort of juice.

Blades, a defensive back committed to Miami for 2018, entertained onlookers at The Opening recruiting event in Oregon with a celebration that recalled a soldier loading and firing a very large weapon.

Longtime Hurricanes fans know Blades’ father for his play on the field — he was a hard-hitting safety who played three NFL seasons before losing his life in a car accident in 2003 — and for explicitly worded pregame speeches like this.
