Former Miami CB Terrance Henley headed to FCS school

Of the Miami cornerbacks in the above photo, which was taken during 2016 fall practices, only three remain in the picture.

One who isn’t: Terrance Henley, who recently left the team. According to a post on his Instagram account, Henley has landed at Southern Illinois, an FCS school. SIU did not immediately confirm his arrival.

Malek Young (12), Michael Jackson (28) and walk-on Tyler Murphy (32) are the only corners from last year’s crew still competing for time. Corn Elder (29) and Adrian Colbert (25) graduated, and Sheldrick Redwine (22), a junior, moved to safety and could start this fall.

Henley (21) and Ryan Mayes (27) left the program. The school announced Mayes’ departure Thursday. It did not give an official reason. It may be related to the reason UM gave regarding Henley’s July 5 departure.

Coach Mark Richt said in a UM release at that time he “talked to Terrance and he felt like he would have more opportunities for playing time at another program. We wish him all the best in his future plans.”

Henley, from Pompano Beach, played in three games for Miami last year.
